At our location, we have a weekly Jr. KIND Club for children ages 3 and 4. This is a time for young children to learn more about the world around them and become more interested in helping their community. We read stories, have related crafts and activities. |
Our monthly KIND (Kids in Nature's Defense) Club meets once a month to learn about different animal and environmental issues and how to be responsible community members. This group is for ages 5-7. We offer snacks, crafts and games related to the monthly topic. They also join in on the Potomac Watershed Clean up days in April. We sponsor Wills Park in LaPlata. We encourage the children to take what they learn into the community and put it into action.
KIND Club Sr. is the perfect club for kids ages 8-11 that are almost ready to join our community action group but still want to learn about various animal and environmental topics. This group learns about the issues and also puts their know-how to use by helping with the shelter, local wildlife groups and with the Potomac Watershed Clean up day in April.
The TWLA (Teens Who Love Animals) is a community action group for kids 12-14. This group of youngsters would like to volunteer but find themselves too young. They work on different projects to help the community and the shelter. They will work hands on at the shelter as well as take field trips and work on projects for various community organizations.
