• Tri-County Animal Shelter Web Site : Here you can leave reports about lost or found animals, read animal regulations from Charles, Calvert, and St Mary's Counties in Maryland, check office hours, and get directions to the shelter. Stop by and see their adoption clinic.
• Calvert Animal Welfare League (CAWL). The adoption fee is $150.00 (dogs) and $100.00 (kittens). Cats over 1 year old are $90. Fees cover costs for veterinarian, feeding, & transport. Your fee is tax deductible, as CAWL is a registered non-profit organization. Call 301-812-0689, or 410-586-1332 for information. You can send an e-mail to admin@cawl.us.
• Humane Society of Calvert County. Another great place to find the perfect pet. HSCC requests a donation of $150 to cover veterinary and other expenses involved in the rescue and placement of animals. Click on over, or give them a call to discuss:

• Patuxent Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). All pets are altered, tested negative (heartworm, FIV/FLV), dewormed, up to date on inoculations, micro chipped (for identification if lost), and flea free. They come with collars, temporary ID tags, and adoption packets. The adoption fees are $150.00 for dogs and $100.00 for cats, except those with CFA papers which are $150.00. • Saint Mary's Animal Welfare League (SMAWL) Call 301-373-5659.
• SPCA of Anne Arundel County. These folks do great work! Adoption Fees are: Purebred Dogs 55.00, Mixed Breed Dogs 30.00, Purebred Cats 45.00, Mixed breed cats 25.00, Rabbits 15.00, Guinea Pigs 10.00, and hamsters, gerbils, mice are 3.00. The shelter adopts to all counties in Maryland. We require a spay/neuter deposit on all out-of-county (Anne Arundel) adoptions. Visit them at 1815 Bay Ridge Avenue,Annapolis, MD 21403. • Visit Animal Friends! For more than fifty years as Pittsburgh's only no kill shelter, the primary mission of Animal Friends has been to keep and care for unwanted dogs and cats of all ages while attempting to find appropriate, permanent homes for each and every one of them. They have an extensive listing of shelters and rescue organizations nationwide! Call 412 566-2103.

• TravelDog provides advice on traveling with your dog and has a list of places to stay all across the U.S. that accept dogs.

• The Humane Society of Charles County Bookstore, in association with Amazon.com, provided a way for you to find books on dogs, cats, humane organizations and other pet related information. Every purchase you make by clicking on the book links provides 5 to 15 percent of the purchase price back to the Humane Society!
• The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has a publications page on its site that provides access to approximately two hundred low cost publications. The publications available include brochures, monographs, videos, fact sheets, novelty items, and campaign kits. They offer bulk pricing on many of the items. The HSUS also publishes the full-color quarterly magazine HSUS News for HSUS members; the bi-monthly Animal Sheltering magazine for animal-care professionals; and the quarterly newsletter Animal Activist Alert . They are available free of charge to HSUS members only.
• The American Red Cross with the Humane Society of the United States has published a disaster preparation brochure for pet owners . You can read it right here.
• The Millennium Group publishes a series on traveling with your pet called Pets Welcome . The books talk about places where you pet can stay while traveling in California or the Southeast U.S.

• A long list of Maryland Rescue Organizations on the Creatures.com site. All other states are listed too!
• If you are a Border Collie fan, the Tavi Border Collie Rescue site is for you! They're in New York, a pleasant day trip away from Charles County Maryland.

• The Internet Lost and Found is an online lost and found database created to form a centralized community to exchange lost and found information. Users can list and search for lost and found objects, using a variety of parameters including categories, keywords, and location. In addition, their lost and found pets area features listings separated into the following catagories: lost dogs, found dogs, lost cats, found cats, lost birds, found birds, etc. - creating a simple system to search or list a lost and found pet.
